This weekend Adam and I hit the Modesto Con. I was a bit nervous as it was my first sit down at a table convention. Adam is much more experienced at this than I am, so he calmed me down. In any case, it was fun. I got a chance to meet a lot of cool people and was able to expose my work and The Show Comic to a wider audience. I have to thank Adam again for pushing me into this. Turlock artists entertain at Modesto Con

Local artists Harold George and Adam Harris attended Modesto Con over the weekend, putting their pens to work for convention-goers.

George, creative director for the Journal, has been drawing since he was seven years old and sees conventions as not only a way to provide the public with hand-drawn works of art, but also as a platform to showcase his work.

“You can show the work that you’ve done and really get your name out there,” said George.

George, whose illustrations have been published in numerous comic books, is currently working on “The Show,” a comic based on a superhero named Super J. His other works include “The Funnicks” comic strip and “I Hate My Kids,” a comic that runs every Wednesday at www.thewebcomicfactory.com.

“For me, it’s something fun to do,” said George. “It’s something that not only relaxes me, but also takes away stress.”

George and Harris can be found next at the Bonanza Books and Comics' Batman Day on Sept. 17. Bonanza Books and Comics is located at 2308 McHenry Ave. in Modesto.
