Work in Progress

September 16, 2016

This is a work in progress for Middagh Goodwin whom I met at the Modesto Comic Con; a very cool dude.I have to say, aside from my own characters, it is the first time I have to do so many characters in one frame. These are depictions of some of the CosCon winners from 2015. Stay tuned for some updates As I blog about the process here.

This is actually my clean ups after I created some rough drafts. At this stage, I am trying to get some semblance to the Cos Players that I got for reference. I'm working with Clip Studio Paint Pro

LIGHTBOX: Vion4444

August 22, 2016

When I first started posting on my Instagram I had no purpose. I posted some pictures occasionally trying to figure out the platform. I added some filters, I skewed some pictures, but wasn’t too happy with what I added. Then, as if by some great inspirational magic, I had this bright idea of posting my sketchbook pages. “Eureka!, that it! I could post my sketchbook pages onto Instagram and if I lose any notebooks, like I have in the past, I could still have them, online.”

Uploading my sketchbook pages became a daily thing. Day after day I posted. Week after week people started following me and liking my sketches. I got comments, compliments and even requests for commissions. I began to engage many people. I started following some myself. Throughout this time I met many great artists. Some have even inspired me and helped me stay motivated. Today, I want to spotlight one of those artists.

Vion4444 has been a great source of motivation for me. His comments and critiques as well as his ideas have helped me push myself as I create my webcomic. He has shown me that there are people out there that want to read my story. Thank you for your enthusiasm and for being a loyal follower.

Vion4444 has some great artwork himself and today I would like to say thank you for the support and the inspiration. If you would like to follow his work feel free to click on the button below.

Bionic Six - Drawing 80's Cartoons

August 4, 2016

Today I'm up to #11 of our 80's toons, finishing up some of the Bionic Six cartoons. 89 more to go. They were one of my favorite Saturday morning cartoons. I remember I used to have a ring and slam it to my watch that was on my wrist and yell "Bionics on!" Kind of like they did in the show. Who am I kidding, I still do it, but come on...if you grew up with this show you would know that this show was awesome. The animation was ridiculous for its time and the plot was sick. Sadly, it was all created to sell toys and once sales died, so did the show, but I so wish they would do a remake like they did with Voltron.

Head on over to my instagram account and see as my friends and I go back in time and draw 100 cartoons from the 80s.

At Modestocon with Adam Harris

July 13, 2016

This weekend Adam and I hit the Modesto Con. I was a bit nervous as it was my first sit down at a table convention. Adam is much more experienced at this than I am, so he calmed me down. In any case, it was fun. I got a chance to meet a lot of cool people and was able to expose my work and The Show Comic to a wider audience. I have to thank Adam again for pushing me into this. I would definitely do it again. We even got to appear in our local paper. Here's the full article, written by Angelina Martin.

Turlock artists entertain at Modesto Con

By Angelina Martin

Local artists Harold George and Adam Harris attended Modesto Con over the weekend, putting their pens to work for convention-goers.

George, creative director for the Journal, has been drawing since he was seven years old and sees conventions as not only a way to provide the public with hand-drawn works of art, but also as a platform to showcase his work.

“You can show the work that you’ve done and really get your name out there,” said George.

George, whose illustrations have been published in numerous comic books, is currently working on “The Show,” a comic based on a superhero named Super J. His other works include “The Funnicks” comic strip and “I Hate My Kids,” a comic that runs every Wednesday at www.thewebcomicfactory.com.

“For me, it’s something fun to do,” said George. “It’s something that not only relaxes me, but also takes away stress.”

George and Harris can be found next at the Bonanza Books and Comics' Batman Day on Sept. 17. Bonanza Books and Comics is located at 2308 McHenry Ave. in Modesto. A Gift From Mom

May 19, 2016

Mom made an impression

When I was little I was able to draw anything I was looking at. I don't know where I got that from, but mom says it was from her. Although I never saw her draw, she was really good at other creative stuff like sewing outfits together, redecorating rooms and other stuff I can't really remember in detail. Wait, I lie...I did see her draw someone's face once, from memory. I call him uncle Bob. Not really, I didn't call him anything, but I was impressed as to how she was able to draw a face from her head. WTF mom?!, how come you didn't show me this before? Made me realize that she saw things different too; just like me. If you haven't figured it out mom, this is a shout out to you. Thanks for the gift.

Older & Better

I've gotten a little better at drawing over the years, but I remember when I started to draw comics, it was all thanks to my cousin who drew Tarzan and Batman for me when I was about 5 years old. After that, I wanted to draw the same way. I wish I had some of those old drawings to show you guys. I don't, so poop on that idea. But just like momma gave me the gift of art, I want to give you guys the gift of my story. Well, not my real life story, but these cool characters.

This story is a culmination of all the things that me and my friends created when we were little "sanganos" and I want to share it with you. Please join me on this adventure as I tell the Story of the Watchers from The S.H.O.W. (Super Human Operations Watch).
