Making Comics: Ain't Nobody Got Time For That

April 25, 2019

Creating a comic book is no small feat. I've had my share of inspiring moments as well as some frustrating ones. My main brick wall comes in the form of time. I don't claim to be the first nor the last to use time as an excuse, but unfortunately, I am among those who do. I simply can't find enough time to push through creating my comics as fast as I would like to. I will make an example of this particular comic book, and I will create it in less time that I did my last one, The Show comic (That one lasted me about as much time as it takes for a US kid to get into first grade).

Where are you now?

This time around when creating comics I decided to do it in batches. I finished drawing all my thumbnails which I call the first round. Round 2, I will call "Roughs" and this is where I go through each page and clean up the art into something that doesn't look like a bunch of preschool drawings. I have also promised myself to be a little more creative with the backgrounds, mainly because I want to get better at drawing them and establishing the environments the figures are in.

I would love to hear your thoughts on my process. If you have any questions please leave me a comment down below.

Until next time, #drawwatuwant.

Ink-stained fingers, existential dread & one caffeine-fueled slug of a comic. Buckle up, art nerds, it's time to get creative.
