Who wakes up in the middle of the night to write? I'm going to raise my hand on this one and shake it in the air vigorously until I create a wind gust that could topple a stack of drawing paper. "What do I write?" you may be wondering. Or maybe not. But for those who are, I guess I'm writing this particular entry. It's normal for me to get inspired throughout the day at any time, but this is a first though. This is different. Trying to decipher why I am doing it this way this time around can be annoying. It could be that monster I drank this afternoon and the abundant amounts of caffeine I consumed during the entire day. Who knows? When you feel the inspiration, you just gotta go for it. Don't you think?
“I cannot stress enough the value
that comes from experimenting with
different styles and different media.”
I decided to write about this Space Ghost thing. What the hell is "this Space Ghost thing?" It's a recap on how much trouble I had drawing Space Ghost. This was when I felt I had no style and I was still experimenting. I cannot stress enough the value that comes from experimenting with different styles and different media. So do it. And do it a lot, 'cause you will thank me. yeah, that's why. But do it for yourself, not for me. Getting back to the subject, this is my final version the Space dude, after a couple of uninspiring and unsuccessful versions. What do you think?
“Try something different than
what you have done in the past”
Remember that experimenting with stuff you are not comfortable with is one of the staples of growing, not only in your art but even as a person. But we are here to talk about art, so let's leave the philosophy for another blog. Try something different than what you have done in the past and let me know how it goes. I can easily say that if it wasn't for this little experiment, among many others, I would not have found the style that I have now.
